State police are looking for the public's help in identifying the body of a female who was found in Wappinger Creek tributary stream Tuesday.

When asked if there is any indication of the cause of death or any signs of foul play, state police spokesman Aaron Hicks said: "Both are still under investigation."

The forensic examination and autopsy are ongoing and more information will be provided when it's available, police said. The Dutchess County Medical Examiner's office on Thursday said the case is pending.

On Tuesday, state police responded to a 911 call for a body found in Wappinger Creek tributary stream.

The female, "believed to be approximately 5-feet, 3-inches tall and between the ages of 16 and 25 years old, was found partially submerged," state police said in a news release. "Her weight prior to her death was believed to be approximately 89 pounds."
