Dyn, a domain name server host, posted an alert on its website indicating that internet service has been restored after a denial of service attack.

Domain Name Servers, or DNS, act as a directory for internet website addresses.

Earlier this morning, Gizmodo.com reported that a denial of service attack on Dyn caused issues for users trying to access a variety of sites including Twitter.

This Is Probably Why Half the Internet Shut Down Today

A note on Dyn's website indicated the issue affected users on east coast.

According to Dyn the issue started somewhere around 7:10 a.m. and was resolved at about 9:20 a.m.
