No residents or firefighters were injured in the blaze, and both houses are habitable despite structural damage to the garage, said Chief Mark Johnson.

The fire department received the call at 3:24 p.m. The blaze was under control at 3:45 p.m. and completely extinguished at 4:15 p.m.

During the summer, it is vital that people holding barbecues keep track of their grill.

"If they are going to purchase gas grills, it's important that they follow proper protocol," Johnson said.
