Build Your Own Bluebird House & Lecture — LaGrange Association Library, 488 Freedom Plains Road (Route 55), Poughkeepsie. 6-7:45 p.m. July 14, Hear all about the Eastern Bluebird from their nesting cycle to the use of bluebird boxes. Grace Church golf tournament and gala — Millbrook Golf & Tennis, 103 Route 343, Millbrook. July 14. Grace Church, Millbrook, will have its eighth annual golf tournament and gala. Tournament, lunch, dinner and auction. Proceeds help support church?s outreach programs. Tee times at 7:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Dinner at 6 p.m. with music by pianist Peter Muir. Author discussion — Taylor Hall, Room 203, Vassar College, 124 Raymond Ave., Poughkeepsie. 7:30 p.m. July 15. Historian and author Douglas Brinkley will discuss "John Burroughs, Theodore Roosevelt, and the American Conservation Movement." This free public event is co-sponsored by the college's Environmental Studies program and the John Burroughs Association. Brinkley is a professor of history at Rice University. His work on conservation history includes the books "Wilderness Warrior: Theodore Roosevelt and the Crusade for America" and "The Quiet World: Saving Alaska's Wilderness Kingdom, 1879-1960." He is currently writing "Rightful Heritage: Franklin D. Roosevelt and the Land of America." 845-437-5370.
