The Town of Lloyd is still on a boil alert after a "major" water main break on Vineyard Avenue Monday, said Supervisor Paul Hansut.

The fractured water line, which had "a 12-foot break," was replaced 4:30 a.m. Tuesday, Hansut said. Vineyard Avenue between Tillson Avenue and VanWagner Road has been reopened after being closed for the repair.

Hansut said though all residence now have water, the boil alert is still in effect until further notice, as advised by the Ulster County Department of Health. Residents should be boiling their water for at least two minutes before using it.

"We sent some samples up (to the Department of Health), and we should be OK by Thursday," Hansut said.
